Here is a list of features for the Gene Order Browser:

  • The view contains two chromosomes where the ortholog of interest resides. Each gene is represented by an orriented arrow that corresponds to its strandness. The genes are coloured differently to allow the user to distinguish between 5 categories of gene-relationships, namely:
    1. Ortholog of interest (blue)
    2. Orthologs with both genes present in the visualization area (black).
    3. Orthologs with one gene present in the visualization area and the other gene outside, but on the same chromosome (skyblue).
    4. Orthologs with one gene present in the visualization area and the other gene on a different chromosome (green).
    5. Genes that do not have orthologs (light gray).
  • The Ensembl GeneIds on the picture are linked to the corresponding Ensembl gene cards.
  • Each arrow representing a gene can become a central ortholog by simply clicking on it.
  • Two hollow navigation arrows are placed on both sides of the image. The arrows will change the focus of the view to the left most (and respectively the right most) gene on the Human chromosome that has an ortholog.
  • The picture is available for download with one click of a button.

Any suggestions are welcome!
